1. Tell us where you live
Fill in the short form or speak to our team.
We’ll use your details to check whether your home is part of a participating council or housing provider scheme.
2. We check your home
Not every home will be suitable, so we’ll review your property before anything goes ahead.
This may include checking the roof, available space, shading, electrical setup and safe battery locations.
3. We explain everything
Before you decide, we’ll explain what could be installed, how the savings work, what you may pay, and how billing works alongside your usual supplier.
4. You decide
You only go ahead if you are happy and understand what the scheme means for your home.
If you choose to continue, we’ll arrange the paperwork and next steps with you.
5. We arrange installation
If your home is suitable, trained installers will fit the solar panels and, where suitable, battery storage.
We’ll arrange this at a time that works for you.
6. You start saving
Once everything is set up, your home can start using solar electricity through the scheme
Who can join?
Civic Energy Partnership is available through participating councils and housing providers.
You may be able to join if:
How solar panels and batteries work

Solar panels make
electricity
Your panels make
electricity during the day.

Battery storage helps
you use more of it
Your battery stores daytime
electricity to use in the evening.

Your usual electricity
stays in place
Extra power comes from your
usual supplier, no switching needed.
How billing works
Solar electricity bill
This comes from the panels installed at your home. Civic Energy Partnership bills you for the solar electricity you use.
Grid electricity bill
This comes from your usual electricity supplier. Your supplier bills you for any electricity you use from the grid.
Before you decide
We’ll make sure everything is clear before you choose to go ahead.
Before anything goes ahead, we’ll explain:
Solar panels and battery storage, where suitable.
Including your free electricity allowance and lower-cost solar power.
So you know what comes from CEP and what comes from your usual supplier.
